McDonald’s® joined forces with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) for the second consecutive year to present five Steps for Success College Workshops on Saturdays at high schools across the country in Fall of 2008. The bilingual college workshops, which featured education experts, were designed to provide students and parents with essential college knowledge to actively engage, excite, and motivate them to consider college as a viable option.
The workshops' activities included seminars on managing the college application process, applying for financial aid and researching college scholarships, such as the RMHC®/HACER® Scholarship Program.
The program included a session for parents led by award-winning and best-selling author Mariela Dabbah, Workshop participants received a free copy of her book Help your Children Succeed in High School and Go to College.
In addition to the Steps for Success College Workshops, McDonald’s and HSF also offered six Town Hall meetings. These meetings featured brief yet detailed presentations in English and Spanish covering the same topics as the college workshops.
